On September 10, the annual karate beach training took place in Hellevoetsluis. Fortunately it was a beautiful sunny day and therefore a fantastic day for training. The annual beach training is organized every year by Delta Sport, Nintai and Shiai-Jo. The gyms, which are affiliated with the Dutch Karate Association, came from all over the country to the beach training.
Nakama-Gym “Kyokushin Karate” from Harderwijk was also present this year to train together with a high attendance of other enthusiastic karatekas.

After greeting and opening, the children and adults were divided into separate groups. The adults continued with Sensei Stephano and the children with Sensei Peter, Sensei Bas (Nakama) and Senpai Antoinette. After a solid warm-up by Sensei Peter, the children were challenged by a tough condition training to give everything of themselves. This training in the loose sand (sprinting, crawling and tigering) demanded a lot of your condition. Similar to our Nakama MMA and judo training sessions, where you are constantly working on a lot of groundwork.
After Sensei Peter Meijer's team and fitness training, Sensei Bas taught basic self-defense techniques separately to the youth. Clamp, turn away and take control as quickly as possible. These kinds of exercises are regularly practiced in the Dojo in Harderwijk during the MMA and judo lessons.
The last part that ended the day was together with the adults in the cold seawater. Under the guidance of Sensei Stephano , we were slowly delegated to the sea water through karate techniques. Where in the cold water, abdominal exercises were done and presses had to be made. In short, nice and cold and especially a wet suit!
For our own Dojo, Nakama Gym in Harderwijk, it is a great idea to organize this with all members of the gym. In the vicinity of Harderwijk we also have plenty of water and beach! Nice to equal it together with the kickboxers, MMA ' ers and the people of the Heavy Bag (punching bag) ! Sounds like a great challenge to us…
