Last Saturday, September 23, 2017, John van de Broek from Putten became Dutch Champion kickboxing in the C-class in Stadskanaal.
The opponent was no stranger to Van de Broek; he had fought that before and at that time the match had ended in a draw. Van de Broek knew that this would not be an easy job and was well prepared for it by his trainer from Nakama Gym from Harderwijk.

The trainer of Nakama Gym, John Kuipers, had urged him to put pressure on him, but also to keep his distance in time so that his heavier and also somewhat smaller opponent could not play his favorite game.
John was able to score well during the match and put more pressure than his opponent. Many low kicks (kick technique against the opponent's leg) were well placed and John also regularly came through well with his punches.
Obviously he also had to take something, especially a short right corner from the opponent was a good hit. Everyone at Nakama was convinced that after three rounds John had shown enough to be declared the winner of the match, but as so often with a jury sport, the decision was made differently and an extra round had to make the decision. John got off to a strong start in this decisive round and scored a lot. The opponent also became increasingly tired, which was partly due to Van de Broek's striking punches and kicks. After this round, which was clearly for him, Van de Broek was declared the rightful winner and he was given the championship belt (see photo) and the roof went off with the supporters of Nakama Gym where the friendship is central. A beautiful evening where several fighters from Nakama Gym gave an appearance was concluded in a perfect way.
On to the B-class where we hope to play many great matches with John!
